In Sorgues (5 minutes away)

Sorgues widens the choice. The Carrefour has a solid deli counter and regional cheeses, an independent fromagerie rounds things out, and the Thursday morning market carries more weight than the one in Bédarrides. This is where you track down the best olives in the area, lavender honeys, and several olive oil producers.

Les Halles d'Avignon (15 minutes away)

For real short-circuit shopping, the Halles d'Avignon (place Pie) open every morning except Monday. Meat, fish, AOC cheeses, seasonal vegetables, house-made charcuterie: it is all there, and the stallholders take the time to chat during the week. Saturday morning stays very busy and is best avoided with a stroller.
